Welcome to the Oban Club.

We are based on the beautiful West Coast of Scotland in Oban, known as the Gateway to the Isles. The club attracts members of all ages and abilities, and welcomes new members and visitors at all times.

Our members represent all levels of experience, from enthusiastic beginners to seasoned stalwarts and use all types of technology and formats from compact to SLRs, both digital and film. If you don't use a camera but enjoy taking photographs on your phone you'll be made just as welcome.

Oban Photographic Club is one of the older clubs in Scotland – boasts some 60 years of photographic interchange and socialising. But we have a modern outlook on the art – always ready to learn new skills, always striving to keep the programme fresh and always welcoming new members. We are fortunate to live in one of the most scenic areas of Scotland – the mountains, lochs and the glens with that superb ever-changing quality of light are a landscape photographer’s delight. Oban is situated on a wonderful stretch of the Argyll coastline with ferry and air access to many islands, both locally and further afield; the busy harbour and local beaches, cliffs, and marine and bird life add another exciting layer to the photographic possibilities. For those interested in street photography, the many opportunities on hand during the busy visitor season are something else to keep the shutters clicking!

We meet weekly from October to March in the Congregational Church Hall in Tweedale Street and have a varied programme of competitions, guest speakers, tutorials and occasional club outings. There’s always a lively banter on club nights and a warm and friendly atmosphere.  A good measure of humour is always to hand!

So here's hoping that life in Oban Photographic Club will continue enthusiastically. Do join us!
